Yes, we know…”back to sleep.” But, we can’t stop her anymore. She sleeps on her belly now as often as not…at least, that’s how we find her in the morning. Every time I look into her crib and see her like this, I have to suppress a giggle…it’s pretty cute. Here are photos from two separate nights recently when I found her on her belly:
By the way, a question for all of you seasoned mothers out there…when do we start using blankets? It’s plenty warm in here…typically that room is between 76 and 78, just because we don’t run the A/C. She’s not coordinated enough yet to use a blanket herself as needed, but she’s surely coordinated enough to not choke on one at this point, right? We were worried about the SIDS risks for a long time, but now she’s quite strong… That crib is starting to look awfully bare.
All of our five children slept on their bellies. I don’t think we could have gotten them asleep on their backs. It didn’t seem to hurt them. Adria looks so comfy on her stomach. Besides that she is turning over by herself now. Blankets are another story. We dressed them warm and didn’t use blankets. I love you guys!!! Ma
Og my gosh, Adria is so adorable! Scott started rolling over at about 6-7 months too. We still start him on his back, though. Also, we started using blankets at around 5 months b/c it was getting to be fall/winter and our place is cold in the early mornings. (Wood stove for heat…) We tucked the blankets in at the end of the crib so he couldn’t pull them over his face.
We’ve been using a small hand-knitted blanket with Helen almost from the start. It’s just big enough to cover her body, doesn’t even reach from one side of the crib to the other. Its weave is loose enough that she can breathe through it if she pulls it over her face (which she often does, for fun.)
